Abstract

The numerical computations for single phase flow through three-dimensional digitized rock fractures under varied simulated confining pressures appropriate to midcrustal depths were presented. The computations were performed using the lattice Boltzmann method to approximate Navier-Stokes flow. The comparison of the numerical predictions of fracture permeability was done with laboratory measurements performed on the same fractures.
