Abstract

A compatible displacement finite element model is employed for discretization in spatial coordinates, to reduce the relevant partial differential equations of the problem to a system of coupled, nonlinear, ordinary differential equations which govern the behavior of nodal displacements in time. These equations are solved by means of uniformly valid asymptotic expansion procedure. An example and discussion are included.
