    Abstract

    Brine evaporative rates of four different netting types are experimentally determined. This work is part of on going investigations undertaken to research, develop and demonstrate the operation of a salinity-gradient solar pond incorporating a closed salt cycle. Empirical equations are derived to predict evaporative performance for each of the four netting systems based on the data collected. These equations make possible the calculation of the net area required to achieve a specified brine evaporation rate.
