Abstract

Experimental observations of a coating flow are described, including evidence of a new qualitative feature, namely, that the steady stable flow field is not always unique for certain fixed values of the physical parameters. Since the mathematical modelling of these processes is the subject of some controversy, this potentially provides a qualitative test of competing proposed models.
