Abstract
This survey summarises the following aspects: tornadic wind speeds; response of housing, atmospheric pressure change; and unusual events. A summary of wind speed estimates from the literature, with credence levels, is included. 'Unusual events' includes: exploding structures; open windows and building response, water removal from ponds; and driving straws into planks and extreme missiles. Some popular myths are reported.
