Abstract
This essay examines the so-called socialist/marxist discourse of Domitila Barrios de Chungara, the leader of the Housewives' Committee of one of Bolivia's militant mining communities. Through textual analysis, the essay argues that rather than being influenced on socialist ideals, Barrios de Chungara's discourse is based on the concepts of gender complementarity.
