Abstract

The process of conformal welding had been investigated for nearly 50 years. In recent years welding has drawn increased interest with applications ranging from image recognition to string theory. We describe a discrete form of conformal welding for Riemann surfaces using circle packings and show how it can be used to approximate a continuous welding.
