Abstract
The development of novel blends and textile products will be an important activity for the textile industry in this century. Three widely used apparel fibers such as cotton, wool and polyester have to be used in ways that are economical both for the producers and consumers. A recent activity has led to the development of polyester/short-shorn wool (ssw) rotor yarns. The results presented in this paper show that it is possible to spin polyester/ssw yarns both on the ring and rotor spinning. Further activities are underway to develop fabrics from polyester/ssw rotor yarns.
