Abstract
A normalized friction factor has been devised to characterize the frictional properties of fabrics. The calculation of the normalized friction factor involves statistical methods and there is need to automate the calculation process. A calculator generic for calculating the friction factor has been developed to speed and automate the calculation of fabric friction factor. A multidisciplinary approach has been followed to automate the friction factor calculation. The calculator helps with the calculation of the fabric friction factor thus enabling people who are not trained in statistical principles to evaluate the frictional properties of fabrics.
