Abstract
The use of simplified models for deriving suboptimal controllers to the original higher order plants need a relationship between the original state vector and the simplified state vector. The relationship is known as the aggregation matrix. It is claimed that there is no unique method available for evaluating the relevant aggregation matrices. This paper presents a procedure for the evaluation of the aggregation matrix for Davison's model and also discusses the applicability of the aggregation matrix concept for solving the linear regulator and the linear tracking problems via simplified models of the plants. The results are demonstrated by a numerical example.
