Abstract
The Messinian Qawasim and Abu Madi formations in the Nile Delta, Egypt contain potential hydrocarbon reservoirs that have recently been commercially produced. They are made up of different sedimentary facies which display wide heterogeneities in their mineralogical composition and petrophysical characteristics. Identification of the best reservoir quality facies is crucial for hydrocarbon exploration and development in the entire Nile Delta province. In that sense Therefore, this study provides new insights about on the impacts of depositional environment and diagenesis on the reservoir quality of the Messinian sediments. The studied Messinian sediments were grouped into four main categories based on of different petrophysical properties and reservoir quality. The first category includes the excellent reservoir quality Qawasim proximal deltaic facies, whereas the second comprises the Abu Madi fluvial sediments which are characterized by good reservoir quality. The third and four
