Abstract
An experimental study of the decomposition kinetics of chemically activated dimethylsilane and ethylsilane produced by reaction of singlet methylene with methylsilane is reported. Rate constants for various possible decomposition paths are deduced and a RRKM theoretical treatment of CH3-Si bond rupture is given. Revised theoretical calculations for previous studies of CH3-Si bond rupture are presented.
