Abstract

The world is changing rapidly. Even the manner in which people relate to each other is dramatically impacted by technology. Never before have we had the option to connect with millions of people from all over the world with such ease. e new normal for social and even professional interactions includes the use of social media. With this transformation of professional relationships, career services professionals and recruiting representatives need to understand the process by which social media is altering the eld of recruitment. With new advents in technology and constant changes in occupational options, remaining current and innovative can be a challenge. For career services professionals to assist their students and for recruiting representatives to hire effectively, an awareness of employers’ use of social media—specifically LinkedIn—for recruitment is necessary. is article focuses on employers’ perceptions of LinkedIn and its use in recruitment.
