Abstract

The most active printmakers from South Korea and America have been selected to exhibit their art together. Eunkang Koh and Melanie Yazzie curated ten artists from each country to highlight differences between the cultures. According to the organizers (who are also contributing themselves), “Variations are precious and interesting; we can learn much from collaborative exchange.” In addition to pointing out dissimilarities between societies, the exhibition highlights the diverse methods used to produce printed

artwork. Some artists continue to employ traditional techniques, others have adopted technology. From monochromatic wood block cuts to vibrant pigment prints, the pieces provide a glimpse into the varied approaches available to contemporary artists while

accentuating what makes our customs and practices unique.
