Abstract
Infrared spectra of molecules at monolayer coverages on transition metal electrodes have derivative band shapes under certain experimental conditions. This report describes a curve fitting procedure that allows the recovery of Lorentzian lineshape functions. The method is applied to correct spectra of CO adsorbed on platinum in acetonitrile solutions and is designed for use when an adsorbate-free background spectrum is difficult to record.
