Abstract

In Texas, many miles of jointed plain concrete pavement (JPCP) have exceeded their design lives and are in need of repair and rehabilitation. A rehabilitation option for JPCP is needed that can provide good long-term performance. Continuously reinforced bonded concrete overlay (CRBCO) could be a good rehabilitation option for deteriorated JPCP. To evaluate the viability of CRBCO on JPCP, a half-mile section of deteriorated JPCP in Sherman, Texas, was selected for CRBCO and detailed investigations conducted. The findings from this study indicate that CRBCO is quite effective for the rehabilitation of deteriorated JPCP.
