author = "Baker, {Barry B.} and Brian Quinn",
note = "Funding Information: The PMC deposit path for manuscripts differs in some ways from publisher agreements. The NIH Public Access Program includes any article covered by the approved funding agency{\textquoteright}s policy. It is estimated that there are 80,000 papers annually that arise from NIH funds. Authors can submit a paper to any journal, regardless of whether it has been selected for the NLM collection. The author{\textquoteright}s role is to negotiate permissions with the publisher and to define the PMC release date. The author can deposit the manuscript or have the publisher do it. The author must review or approve the XML version created by NLM. There is an online tutorial and help available to authors. Regular PMC journals satisfy the policy if research articles are free within 12 months of publication. Even if the publisher deposits the files, there is no formal agreement with the publisher. Funding Information: The last speaker, Sayeed Choudhury, Associate Dean for Library Digital Programs and Hodson Director of the Digital Research and Curation Center at the Sheridan Libraries of Johns Hopkins University, whose presentation was entitled: {\textquoteleft}{\textquoteleft}Collecting for Digital Repositories: Data Perspective,{\textquoteright}{\textquoteright} spoke about the Data Conservancy. It is the recipient of one of two pending awards from the National Science Foundation{\textquoteright}s DataNet Program. The Data Conservancy entails a shared vision. Data curation is not an end in itself, but rather a means to collect, organize, validate, and preserve data to address the enormous research challenges that face society.",
