Abstract

The characteristics of fluid flow in a tube bundle subjected to water sprayed from overhead nozzles were studied. Two effects on the performance of liquid distribution were investigated: the tube surface geometry effect and the tube bundle pattern effect. The tube surface geometries tested were plain, low-finned, and grooved. The bundle patterns tested were square pitch and triangular pitch. The characteristics of fluid flow are discussed based on the local liquid flow rates measured using a collector and a stop-watch.
