Abstract
Defects in perineal conformation involving abnormal declination of the labia or defects in mucosal apposition of the labia are most often remedied by performing a vulvoplasty (Caslick operation). Occasionally, mares may have no obvious perineal abnormalities, but may have a vulvoplasty performed as a preventative measure. This chapter discusses the procedure to be followed during initial stage of caslick operation. It also discusses step by step procedure for performing temporary staple technique and permanent suture technique, and lists equipment and supplies needed.
