Abstract

Phytophthora cactorum, cultured on a synthetic medium, produced a mixture of long-chain fatty alcohols (primary:even) in the homologous series between 22 and 32 C atoms. [2-¹⁴C]Acetate, but not [2-¹⁴C]mevalonate, was actively incorporated into this mixture.
