Behavioral economics: A state of the art matrix analysis

Abstract

Behavioral economics is a science that combines the fields of psychology and economics. The purpose of this paper is to provide a starting point for management science researchers seeking to gain a base knowledge of this science. This paper uses a State-of-the-Art Matrix technique to organize and analyze the literature in the field of behavioral economics. Different categories of research methods and focus areas are identified and quantified. The analysis provides some of the groundwork for developing a more "complete" view of the current state of research in behavioral economics. It also presents potential areas of research that should be investigated in order to further enhance the field of management science.
