Artificial finger can measure fabric's hand

Abstract

Research carried out initially at the University of Leeds and now at Texas Tech. University in Lubbock has resulted in the development of a polymeric finger which can be used to measure fabric hand during production. The finger assigns a standard measurement to each fabric, offering the possibility of an industrywide rating system.
