The two-person exhibition, Are You Listening to Me?, examines the unspoken influences sharing a life together can have on creating art.
Lindsey Maestri and Cody Arnall have been collaborating for years in both work and in life. As working artists, they are both members of the Ireland-based international artists collective, Expanded Draught, and have completed numerous large-scale projects with the group. The couple has also moved across state-lines five times and lived in eight homes together. They have, however, never shared a studio space and keep their personal art making practices relatively separate. Are You Listening to Me? will use the gallery as a vehicle to explore the dialog between their work.
We were selected for this exhibition from an application submitted in response for a call for entries posted nationally. The selection committee consisted of peers, fellow art Professors, from the University of Texas, San Antonio. Terminal 136 is the Art Department's satellite gallery in San Antonio's reputable Blue Star Art district. The opening was part of two city wide 'art opening nights' and was attended by over 500 people.
-I had Four sculptural works included in this exhibition, one of them new, made in 2017.
