Abstract

A physical approximation method, the static electric field enhancement method, to get an approximate result for the space-charge-limited current in a cylindrical diode, with a precision comparable to the Langmuir-Blodgett numerical results was introduced. A correction for the space-charge-limited current in a two-dimensional cylindrical diodes was obtained within a limitation. Langmuir-Blodgett law was used to obtained expressions for the diode current, the diode impedance and the virtual cathode oscillation frequency. The Langmuir-Blodgett law is a 1-D numerical expression without any relativistic correction and was applicable to non-relativistic potentials.
