Abstract

The Childhood of Christ poem found in London, British Library, MS Additional 31042 emerges as a singular, context-specific, and entertaining recollection of Christ’s Passion. This referential narrative enacts the dialectic at play within and among the London Thornton manuscript’s texts between affective devotion to and righteous indignation for Christ’s sacrifice.
