Abstract
The kinetics of the electro-oxidation of ammonia in alkaline media on a platinum electrode was studied using a combination of mathematical modeling with rotating disk electrode (KDE) experimental results. It was found that the adsorption of OH is a very important step during the. electro-oxidation of ammonia. The results of the analysis indicate that the mechanisms proposed in the literature for the electro-oxidation of ammonia are in disagreement with the experimental data as they do not consider the adsorption of OH. A new mechanism for the electro-oxidation of ammonia in alkaline media is proposed.
