Abstract
The International Textile Center has increasingly used Uster's AFIS (Advanced Fiber Information System) to increase the range and precision of fibre property measurements. The use of AFIS to evaluate short fibre content, predict fibre waste and yarn quality is assessed. The application also proves useful in selecting superior cotton varieties. AFIS can operate on small samples - useful for testing cotton growers' fibre samples.
