Advances in III-nitride micro-photonic devices

Abstract

Advances in III-nitride micro-photonic devices were reported. The devices offered benefits like ultraviolet(UV)/blue emission, ability to operate at very high temperatures and power levels. The III-nitride micro-size LEDs were found to boost the overall emission efficiency by 60% and eliminate the problems of low extraction efficiencies due to total internal reflection at the LED/air interface and the problem of current spreading.
