Abstract

The advances in the finite rotational in structural mechanics was discussed. The accuracy of the co-rotational formulation was discussed from a theoretical point of view by Iura, Suetake and Atluri in the year 2003 and introduced a new coordinate system which was efficient in the co-rotational formulation. The total Langrangian formulation was introduced by Zu-pan and Saje and used Rodrigues parameters to express finite rotations. Shape optimization of elastic structural systems was analyzed by Ibrahimbegovic and Knopf-Lenoir.
