Abstract

By chemically cleaving out the core of a dendritic metalloporphyrin coordination polymer, organic nanotubes can be created (see schematic representation). This is made possible by intramolecularly cross-linking the periphery of the oligomer with a ring-closing metathesis reaction prior to coring.
