Abstract
Research on wind erosion on the Southern High Plains, as elsewhere, is hampered by the lack of data on the amount of erosion occurring, both temporally and spatially. Simulation modeling provides one means of analyzing the recent history of wind erosion on a regional basis. This study is a test of an erosion model as a means of assessing regional wind erosion using National Weather Service visibility records for Lubbock. More specifically, we compare the model output for a typical cotton field to the visibility record, to see if the intraannual pattern of erosion can be duplicated. -from Authors
